Plaisance Equipements is Keeping French Forests and Farmlands Healthy

Paris, February 2026 – A pioneer in the design of high-performance forestry mulchers, Plaisance Equipements relies on Allison fully automatic transmissions to optimise the power, reliability and manoeuvrability of its self-propelled machines. This technological alliance enables the family-owned company to combine efficiency in the field with ease of use daily.

A family business dedicated to performance

A family business based in Montigny-lès-Metz, in the Meurthe-et-Moselle region of France, Plaisance Equipements has been designing, manufacturing and marketing robust, high-performance forestry mulchers for the most demanding jobs for nearly fifty years. Founded in 1976 by Jean-Marie and Jocelyne Plaisance and still run by the same family, the company now has around fifty employees and produces between 40 and 50 machines each year, nearly 20% of which are exported.

Plaisance mulchers, whether mounted on agricultural tractors, construction machinery or self-propelled tracked vehicles, are designed for forestry and agricultural maintenance, clearing plots of land and fire prevention. They play an essential role in sustainable forest management and the enhancement of agricultural land.

Performance and ease of use in the field

In use, the Allison transmission's torque converter ensures smooth and progressive management of the mulcher, while transmitting the full power of the engine. This gives the driver a smooth, efficient and precise ride, even in the most difficult operating conditions. The transmission also offers two mulcher rotation speeds, allowing performance to be adapted to the nature of the terrain and the type of vegetation.

"Our priority is to offer our customers powerful, reliable and easy-to-use machines that deliver maximum performance in the field. The integration of Allison transmissions has enabled us to take a step forward in terms of efficiency and ease of use, while enhancing the durability of our machines," emphasises Patrick Culy, Sales Manager for France and Export at Plaisance Equipements.

A strong technical partnership

This technical solution was developed in close collaboration with Powertrain Technology Center, Allison's authorised distributor in France, which supports Plaisance Equipements in the implementation and optimisation of its powertrains.

‘Plaisance Equipements perfectly illustrates how Allison technology adapts to the most demanding applications. The robustness of our fully automatic transmissions and torque converter management offer these shredders a decisive advantage: more useful power, better control of movement and simplified maintenance,’ explains Stéphane Gonnand, Sales Manager for Allison Transmission in France.

By combining industrial expertise, mechanical innovation and performance requirements, Plaisance Equipements and Allison Transmission demonstrate that a high-level technological approach can be used to perform precise, sustainable and efficient field work.
