Allison Transmission Partners with Key Polish Defense Industry Leaders
Allison’s cooperation with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa will strengthen the competitive position of both companies in the international defense market.
INDIANAPOLIS, October 2, 2023 – Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions for tactical wheeled and tracked defense vehicles, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Grupa Zbrojeniowa (PGZ), a holding group uniting Polish state-owned defense industry companies and one of the largest defense companies in Europe. The two defense leaders will partner to expand their product portfolio and bolster Allison’s supplier network and service capabilities in Europe and beyond.
“We are constantly building our strategic alliances to boost the development of the defense sector as part of the Polish Armed Forces Technical Modernization Plan,” said Sebastian Chwalek, PGZ CEO. “We welcome this opportunity to partner with Allison Transmission, a well-known provider of propulsion solutions that have a proven reputation on the battlefield.”
The MOU includes Allison Transmission partnering with PGZ to provide tracked vehicle transmission service and repair in Poland. The MOU also includes cooperation between PGZ and Allison on tracked vehicle programs. Poland is procuring thousands of fighting vehicles in response to the deteriorating regional security situation and a commitment to a strong defense. Allison Transmission is the provider of propulsion systems for the Abrams tank, K9 and Krab Howitzers. Poland has contracted to purchase several hundred Abrams tanks, hundreds of Howitzers, and PGZ has recently been awarded a contract for over 1,000 Borsuk vehicles.
“Allison Transmission is proud to support PGZ and its subordinate companies in the development of world class vehicle platforms such as the Krab Self-propelled Howitzer and multiple wheeled defense models as well as providing sustainment of our products in Poland,” said Dana Pittard, Vice President of Defense Programs, Allison Transmission.
PGZ brings together more than 50 companies, including Wojskowe Zakłady Motoryzacyjne (WZM) who will be added to Allison’s network of Authorized Dealer and Distributors to service tracked vehicles as a complement to Tezana, who services transmissions for wheeled vehicles in Poland.
