The Vehicle Electrification + Environmental Test Center (VE+ET) offers time and money saving testing capabilities by simulating battery and environmental conditions all under one roof. No longer are costly road trips to the mountains or desert required to test regionally specific conditions, all at the mercy of mother nature. The VE+ET Center can consistently replicate a wide range of situations reducing overall product development time and budget requirements.

The VE+ET Center's highly controlled environment enables an enhanced level of virtual product development, driving lower costs. Results from the Allison test center are ideal for developing sophisticated, highly correlated simulations and models so design decisions happen early in the cycle, before prototype hardware investments.

The VE+ET Center is secured, operated and managed independently from Allison Transmission, Inc. keeping customer IP, data and property secure and confidential.

 

Types of Tests

Allison is proud to offer the following types of tests at the VE+ET: 

Electric + Hybrid + H2 Fuel Cell

  • Constant DC Power Supply
    • Provides longer testing periods without the need to stop and recharge, leading to getting more done in a shorter timeframe
    • Battery emulation
    • Direct energy connection
    • Controlled State of Charge (SOC)
  • Fast Charging
    • Enables more tests per day and more data to evolve products for production
    • High-speed 150kW charger
    • Combined Charging System (CCS1) & CHAdeMO (liquid cooled)
    • Multiple charging systems

Monitoring Dynamometers

  • Eliminates the need to have road approved vehicles to complete testing reducing project investments
    • Two Heavy-duty AWD Dynamometers
    • Capable of vehicle load simulations of 4000 – 82,000 lbs.
    • Up to +/- 30 degree road grade
    • Regenerative brake testing for mechanical and electrical development

Environmental Control

  • Removes the uncertainty of mother nature through controlled, repeatable testing conditions
    • Wide range of sustained conditions (temperature range of -54 to +125 °F)
    • Replicate all variables from temperature, humidity and more
    • Replicate altitudes of up to 18,000 ft.

Thermal Testing

  • Provides testing of specific situations in a controlled environment reducing risk and saving time
  • Radiant heaters/lights to generate additional heat when required
  • Lighting is used for radiant solar simulation for HVAC testing on or off dyne

Emissions

  • EPA 40 CFR Part 1066 Capable Testing
  • Two Raw Sampling Measurement, Capable to 4km (13k ft) elevation
