The torque converter adjusts the output torque provided to the wheels while keeping the engine speed stable so the vehicle doesn’t get stuck.

Off-Highway Growth Outside North America

Allison is experiencing significant growth in the global mining dump truck market. Our transmissions are offered by all OEMs in the industry. Allison’s market share is increasing in the Chinese domestic and export markets which deliver dump trucks to India, South America, Africa and Indonesia.

In addition, our fully automatic transmissions are being integrated into autonomous vehicles including rigid dump truck models for mining. Allison’s proprietary electronic controls optimize the integration of autonomous components that enable driverless mode.

Powerful Ratings

The 4000 Series™ is ideal for heavy-duty vehicles that require substantial power and torque. It offers ratings capability of up to 800 hp (597 kW), 2,360 lb-ft of torque (3,200 N·m) and GVW of 242,550 lbs. (110,000 kg).  TerraTran offers seven forward gears and two reverse gears, including fast reverse capability.
