Allison Transmission Offers On-Site Inspection for Gyeonggi-do Fire Service
Allison recently inspected 430 fire trucks for Gyeonggi-do and has supplied more than 2,500 fully automatic transmissions to the National Fire Agency over the past 20 years.
SEOUL, Korea, September 1, 2023 – Allison Transmission, a leading designer and manufacturer of conventional and electrified vehicle propulsion solutions and the largest global manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty fully automatic transmissions for commercial and defense vehicles, today announced that it has carried out an on-site inspection of 430 fire trucks equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions operated by the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service in July and August 2023.
The Gyeonggi-do Fire Service was very grateful to Allison for its on-site support during the hot summer season. Professional mechanics from Allison visited the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service headquarters and fire stations to check the performance, maintenance status and Allison Approved transmission fluid levels of the fire trucks.
Gyeonggi-do Fire Service currently operates more than 430 fire vehicles equipped with Allison fully automatic transmissions. Allison has supplied more than 2,000 fully automatic transmissions to the National Fire Agency since 2003 for firefighting vehicles including medium and large pumps, ladder trucks, rescue vehicles, chemical fire trucks and safety experience vehicles. Depending on the engine size and weight of the fire truck, Allison Automatics are used, including the 1000 xFE™, 2500, 3000, and 4500 models.
According to the Gyeonggi-do Fire Service, emergency vehicles that need to get to the scene quickly in life-and-death situations like fire trucks require high levels of acceleration, productivity, durability, and power. Allison transmissions feature Continuous Power Technology™, which enables fire trucks to get to the scene quickly and maximize fuel efficiency. Torque converter technology increases engine torque to improve starting performance and has excellent acceleration responsiveness and productivity.
In addition, Allison Automatics are equipped with inching controls to help fire trucks get to the scene quickly without losing power. The robust Power Take-Off (PTO) allows fire trucks to use ladders and spray water while driving.
"We deeply appreciate the fire authorities for their trust in Allison fully automatic transmissions for the past 20 years," said Kyoungmee Lee, Regional Director of Allison Transmission Korea. "In the future, Allison Transmission will continue to fully support firefighters’ ability to quickly reach citizens in need nationwide."
